Perth, Western Australia
Hi, I'm Helen Iles, from Western Australia. I am an author, creative writing workshop trainer/presenter, and now branching out into developing on-line courses. I recently retired from the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) where I was a trainer and training development officer at the DFES Training Academy and now pursue my dream of writing novels, aiding new writers, and helping writers become published. I am the Chairperson of The Society of Women Writers WA, a position I have held for over ten years, and I am on the committee of Friends of the Rockingham Arts Centre, Writing Section.
I am a mother of three, grandmother of ten, great grandmother of six. I love to write and deliver training, whether it is in the field of creative writing, emergency services training – especially land search and rescue – and horse training. I ran and trained the emergency services mounted search unit for 25 years before retiring. I still have horses at the back door, but seldom go out on searches these days. Writing has now taken the forefront of my activities.
I currently have eight books out at the moment, ranging from text books, adult fiction, and children's picture books, with seventeen new titles produced this year so far for authors coming under my logo of Linellen Press – either under the Flying Horse imprint, or Teddy Books at Linellen Press imprint.
I have been taking Paul's courses for a number of years and love everyone of them, and have learnt so much, and am looking forward to learning more.
