What’s Important on Father’s Day
On Father’s Day, we celebrate the men who’ve been there for us. The men who helped us become the people we’re today. Even though many of us didn’t have the best relationship with our fathers during our childhood, it’s important to remember that they did their best and that we should be grateful for all they did.
Father’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father figures. The vacation is celebrated in different ways in the United States and worldwide. It was first celebrated on June 19, 1910, by Sonora Dodd of Spokane, Washington, to honor her father’s accomplishments as a parent in her community.
In honor of this special day, here are some things that matter on Father’s Day:
- Time spent together – It doesn’t matter what you do with your dad or kids; if you spend time together, that’s all that matters! Whether you play games together or just sit and talk, the most important thing is that you spend time together.
- Quality Time – Like above, quality time is another way to spend time together. You don’t have to go out to eat at a fancy restaurant, just doing something together is enough!
- Gifts are great, but they aren’t necessary to successfully celebrate Father’s Day. Gifts should be secondary because they can become too materialistic and expensive, which can ruin the mood of the celebration!
- Be present – Being present means more than just being physically present; it also means being emotionally and mentally present! This means listening to them when they talk and asking questions about how they feel about certain things in their lives so you can better understand their feelings.
